Foundation Lotto

Each year Rotary International encourages each club to have each member donate $100 to the Rotary Foundation for the year. Our Club participates in a Foundation Lotto and there are 4 lottos held each year with different members participating each time. Each week for 10 weeks there will be an envelope with a name drawn from the people who are participating. The first name drawn will pay $10 and our club will pay $90 toward the members yearly commitment, the second winner will pay $20 and our club will pay $80 and so on. We encourage all of our members to participate in at least one lotto between July 1'st and June 30'th which is the Rotary year. Click here to see previous winners and current participants

2005 -2006 Rotarian of the Year

Steve Chang was named "Rotarian of the Year" for his dedication to increasing Rotary awareness in the Waterford Schools and the Community. Steve has been active with the Waterford Kettering Interact Club for two years and was responsible for starting an Interact Club at Waterford Mott in the 2005-2006 year. His dedication to helping the students involved in Interact improve their leadership skills by attending the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Training) this past May. Through his encouragement 10 Waterford students applied for grants to work on various community projects.

Steve's dedication to the Waterford Rotary Club is unwavering and his involvement in every project helped us to have a very successful year. We are very proud to have Steve as a member of our club! As President-Elect, Steve was outstanding and we know that he will have an incredible year as the 2006-2007 President of the Waterford Rotary Club.

"Thank You" Steve for all of your efforts this past year!

2005-2006 Presidential Citation

Congratulations to our 2005-2006 Waterford Rotary President, Karen Phelps, for achieving the Presidential Citation from Rotary International. Thanks for your dedication this past year.
Karen was recognized with an honorary Paul Harris Award for her service as President.

2004 - 2005 Rotarian of the Year

(Mark Ettinger receives Rotarian of the Year Award from President Ted Taylor.)

For his outstanding contribution of his time this year to our local club, we would like to honor Mark Ettinger with the "Rotarian of the Year" Award and an honorary Paul Harris Award. Mark became a counselor for incoming exchange students last year. Over the summer, he picked up our student who was flying into Chicago and drove him back to Michigan. Even though there were some challenges with the student, he stayed the course and found another home for him through the end of December. When another home could not be found, Mark and Michele agreed to let Korai stay with them for a while until another host family was found. Eventually, when things didn't work out, he regrettably sent the student back to his home country.

When it was announced that we would build a print shop at the Waterford Fish Hatchery Park as our Rotary Centennial project, Mark volunteered to head up the project. He spent many hours working with contractors and building supply companies trying to negotiate donations and discounts. He helped secure the cement for the foundation, a large discount at Lowe's for the supplies and free labor for the installation of the roof.

During this time he was also spending many hours designing our Waterford Rotary website and working with District 6380 to register attendees for the Foundation dinner as well as the Rotary 100th birthday party. Even though his busy schedule makes it hard for him to attend 100 percent of the meetings, you can be sure that every week he is working hard on some type of Waterford Rotary project.

Thank you, Mark, for all that you do for our club!
